A royal touch
The Danish Gymnastics & Sports Association (DGI) and the seventh Danish National Performance Team celebrated HM The Queen Margrethe’s 70th birthday.
More than 1500 participated in the celebration, 10.000 people enjoyed the show live at Aarhus stadium and many more watched the birthday party on television.
The team felt the rush
The seventh NDPT has been dissolved for quite a while, but was gathered once again for this very specific occasion.
“The boys and the girls did seperate sequences from the old NDPT performance, but it was not until we performed together that we truly felt like the old team. It is probably the last time the seventh team is privileged to perform on Danish soil and we could feel the rush of performing together again” says Rune Engel, who was a gymnast on the seventh NDPT.
Queen Margrethe is patroness for DGI, but it was the first time HM The Queen experienced the seventh NDPT. “Of course it means something extra when you know the queen is watching. I think that we were a bit more nervous and excited than we use to be” says Rune Engel.
